Early voting: Oct. 7 – Oct. 30
Any registered Pinal County voter can vote early at any of the County Recorder's five offices, in Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Florence, Maricopa and San Tan Valley. They're open for early voting 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, through Friday, Oct. 30.
Emergency voting runs from 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, for voters with an emergency that will keep them from voting on Election Day; you'll sign a statement saying so, but you don't have to say what the emergency is. To find out where, call the County Recorder's office at 520-509-3555.
Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3
Pinal County votes at precinct polling places, not vote centers: on Election Day you must vote at the polling place assigned to your precinct. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and if you're in line at 7 p.m., you can still vote. Enter your address in the guide above to find your polling place; the county's 93 polling places serve its 136 precincts.
This guide follows the county's polling place list of Sept. 17, which puts the Blackwater precinct (Precinct 60) at the Gila River Indian Community's District #1 Veterans Hall, 1060 Blackwater School Road, and the Casa Blanca precinct (Precinct 62) at the community's District #5 Veterans Building, 3496 W. Casa Blanca Road. As of Oct. 15, the county's online polling place map still showed other sites for those two precincts, so if you live in either one, confirm your polling place with the Elections Department at 520-866-7550.
Voting by mail
To get a ballot by mail for this election, your request must reach the County Recorder by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Request one through the state's portal at my.arizona.vote; for help, call the Recorder's office at 520-509-3555.
The county asks voters to mail their ballots by Friday, Oct. 23; ballots mailed later may not arrive in time. Postage is paid. You can also drop your ballot at any of the county's 10 outdoor drop boxes, which are open around the clock until 7 p.m. on Election Day, or at an early-voting site during its hours. Your ballot must arrive by 7 p.m. on Election Day; postmarks don't count. The guide's mail tab lists every drop-off place, with its hours.
On Election Day you can drop your signed ballot in the early-ballot bin at any polling place in the county without waiting in line, or show your ID to a poll worker so it skips signature verification and is counted sooner.
If the signature on your ballot envelope doesn't match the one on file, the Recorder's office will contact you. You have until Sunday, Nov. 8, the fifth day after the election, to confirm it. A missing signature must be fixed by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
What to bring
Bring one photo ID with your name and current address:
- Arizona driver's license
- Arizona nonoperating ID
- Tribal enrollment card or other tribal ID
- Any other U.S., state or local government ID
Or bring two documents, without photos, that show your name and current address:
- A utility bill dated within 90 days of the election
- A bank or credit union statement dated within 90 days of the election
- Arizona vehicle registration
- An Arizona vehicle insurance card
- A property tax statement
- An Indian census card
- A tribal enrollment card or other tribal ID
- Your voter registration card or a recorder's certificate
- Official election mail
- A U.S., state or local government ID
Or bring a photo ID whose address is out of date or missing, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, plus one document from the second list with your current address. Without ID you can vote a conditional provisional ballot; to have it count, show your ID to the County Recorder by Sunday, Nov. 8, the fifth day after the election; call the Recorder's office at 520-509-3555 for its hours that weekend. The Recorder has offices in Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Florence, Maricopa and San Tan Valley.
Getting there
The City of Maricopa's free MET Local Circulator, which runs on weekdays, stops within a quarter-mile of four Election Day polling places in Maricopa: Copper Sky Multi-Generational Center, the Maricopa Library, Central Arizona College's Maricopa campus and the Maricopa Community Center. None of the five early-voting sites is that close to a stop. Where a MET stop is within a quarter-mile of a site, the guide names it and the routes that serve it, and the directions links open your maps app with transit directions; the guide includes no other transit service.
Accessibility
Every early-voting site and polling place has an Express Vote accessible voting unit. If you can't get inside your polling place, you can vote curbside: tell a poll worker, or call the Elections Department at 520-866-7558. You can bring someone to help you vote, such as a family member or friend, as long as it isn't your employer, an agent of your employer, or an officer or agent of your union, or you can ask two poll workers for help.
If you're ill or have a disability that keeps you from the polls, a Special Election Board can bring a ballot to you. Request one by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23; if you become ill or disabled after that, you can still ask until 5 p.m. on Election Day. For help, call 520-509-3555.
About this guide
Sites, hours, precincts and districts come from the Pinal County Recorder's Office and Elections Department and the Arizona Secretary of State; one polling place's location comes from Arizona's 911 address records and another's from the U.S. Census Bureau, which also supplies the map geography. Stops and routes come from the City of Maricopa's published MET timetable. The Phoenix Courier is not affiliated with the county. Confirm details at pinal.gov/votes.
